CodeType Academy helps you type code faster and with fewer mistakes. Normal typing tests use plain English, but programming is full of brackets, quotes, operators and indentation. Here you practise exactly those symbols, in real HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, SQL, Java and C++ snippets.

Run a timed typing test of 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds, watch your net WPM and accuracy live, and use weak-key drills to fix the characters you miss most. Which programming languages can I practise?

How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?

Gross WPM counts every character typed divided by five per minute. Net WPM counts only correct characters, so uncorrected mistakes lower it.

Does it save my progress?

Your results, streak and badges are saved in your own browser (local storage). Nothing is uploaded to a server.
